Public Transport Guide

Getting Here by Public Transport

Birch Grove Cabin is located in a remote and beautiful part of the Northwest Highlands. While a car is the easiest way to reach us, it is possible to arrive by public transport with a little advance planning.

This guide explains the recommended routes, itineraries and travel incentives to help you plan your journey smoothly.

Recommended Route (Train + Taxi)

Step 1: Travel by Train to Achnasheen

The nearest practical rail station is Achnasheen, on the scenic Kyle of Lochalsh Line.

  • From Inverness:
Approx. 1 hour 30 minutes by ScotRail

  • Trains typically run 4 times per day

  • Advance tickets are usually cheaper

Book via ScotRail, National Rail Enquiries or Trainline

Step 2: Taxi Transfer to Birch Grove Cabin

From Achnasheen, a pre-booked taxi is essential.

  • Approx. 40 minutes to Birch Grove Cabin

  • Taxis must be booked 24 - 48 hours in advance

  • We recommend booking your taxi before purchasing train tickets

Due to our rural location, there is no direct bus or train to the cabin itself.
